Bio:
Silken Whisper or Silk was once a faithful Onmyoji sorcerer named Nao Tetuso who volunteered for his Lord’s special military squad who use their Shiki to find and stamp out corruption and injustice in the region. This force would not only use Tao Magic, but also taught its members the use of weaponry such as rifles and naginatas in order to be as efficient in their duties.
However to Nao’s growing shock, he starts realizing that the task force had itself grew corrupt from its privilege state of being judge and executioner without a peer, accepting bribes and running what was essentially a racketeering operation on civilians wherever the task force went. While he was not the only man who was concerned about this betrayal of principals, he was the only one impious enough to become vocal about it.
Nao argued with his superiors, who would give him increasingly spurious justifications for their actions, and dismissed his concerns as nativity. One day, things came to a head when the Commander got fed up with the young onmyoji’s inability to let it go and threatened to have him cashiered and then beaten. The threats and arguments escalated until they attacked him and others who were discontent with the status quo. He fought back, killing some of the men and then fled, vowing to never be like them.
He abandoned his name, and clothes that identified him as a member of that force, paying a passerby for his spare robes. In another region, he started to work as a bounty hunter and general ‘odd jobs man’, who has a reputation for getting the job complete, but also for having a very stringent and perhaps even byzantine way of deciding who he will work for – even on the rare occasion, he offers his services at no charge. As he gives no name, others started to call him Silken Whisper due to the quality of his voice.
Appearance wise, he is quite unremarkable, short cropped hair and black eyes with a long face. He wears the robes of an wandering Taoist, with a fox-shaped brooch pinned to the neckline.
